Unity Theatre Presents - To Kill a Mockingbird

A Drama by Harper Lee, Adapted by Christopher Sergel In 1935, young Scout and her brother, Jem, are being raised by their widowed father, Atticus, and their strong-willed housekeeper, Calpurnia. Scout is fascinated with the people in her seemingly normal, small southern town, but there is darkness beneath the calm surface in their community. The façade cracks when a young black man is accused of a terrible crime. Driven by an unshakeable moral conviction, lawyer Atticus defends him in a trial that sends violent waves through the town. The play explores prejudice, compassion and the strength of those who fight injustice and have the courage to do what is right. Playing on the Main Stage September 26 – October 13, 2019 Circle Member reservations begin September 3 | Subscriber reservations begin September 9 | Public sales begin September 16 Curtain Times: Thursdays at 7:30 pm | Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm | Sundays at 4:00 pm Contact the Box Office for tickets: 979-830-8358 or [email protected]  Or purchase Online: https://tickets.UnityBrenham.org

The Houston Brass Band will perform on the Festival Concert Hall

The Houston Brass Band was formed in 2000 by several brass music enthusiasts, inspired by the British film Brassed Off, and was a casual ensemble. In 2006 the HBB asked Robert Walp to coach the cornet section. Mr. Walp, Assistant Principal Trumpet of the Houston Symphony, worked with the cornets, then the entire ensemble. The group's enthusiasm led to Mr. Walp becoming that Band's first Music Director. Under Robert Walp's expert direction, the Houston Brass Band began a period of significant improvement, transforming it from a local community group to the professional-level organization you see and hear today.
