William Anzalone Studios
Saturday, May 5th
William Anzalone, who's been exhibiting his work in Houston for more than 50 years, will reveal his series of drawings made over the past three years entitled "Studios" at the Red & White Gallery in Fayetteville. Anzalone has been making studies and drawings of his interior space... his studio, where he spends hours every day. The drawings represent an evolving view of the spaces and shapes that surround him. He has worked on these semi-abstract drawings in between other projects, constantly returning to this series and working out visual challenges. He hangs his drawings on his viewing walls by clips, examining and reworking them before going on to another interpretation. We will exhibit the drawings in the same way... mostly unframed and hanging on the wall by clips.

ArtWalk 2018 - Celebrating Fourteen Years as a Juried Fine Art Show
May 5th & 6th

Each year, the first weekend in May, fine artists and craftsmen from all over Texas come to the picturesque town square of Fayetteville, Texas to show and sell the best of their creations. Started many years ago as a small local artist event; ArtWalk has grown into a juried fine arts and crafts show and boast award monies for the artists of over $6000.00 which are sponsored by the Mark A. Chapman Foundation.

This year at ArtWalk 2018 sixty artists will shop their wares in the beautiful Texas sunlight amid the sounds of bluegrass music and festival fun for two days during the most beautiful time of year in central Texas. Come stroll through the outdoor booths and meet the artists who created the art. Enjoy a glass of wine at the Wine Tasting Booth, visit the local restaurants and food trucks for lunch or dinner, or just sit and enjoy the live music coming from the gazebo. Children are welcome and the face painting is always fun. There is no gate fee or parking cost.

ARTS, Arts for Rural Texas, the sponsoring nonprofit is centered in Fayetteville but serves the entirety of Fayette and surrounding counties. The mission of ARTS is to bring the arts to our rural communities with an emphasis on children s educational programs.

ArtWalk is an important source of funding for the ARTS programs like Art After School which offers free art classes in ten different rural school districts and the Fine Art Assemblies that bring world class performances to the local schools.  The showing artists are invited to donate one piece of original art that will later be auctioned to support these important programs and we are happy to report 100% voluntary participation from the showing artists.

ArtWalk is more than just a great art show and family friendly festival. It is a weekend celebrating the best of American small town life. Fayetteville is known for its historic charm, friendliness, and growing arts community. Stroll, Shop, and Buy; Saturday and Sunday, May 5th and 6th on the square in Fayetteville. There is no cost to attend or park.

Did you know?
Every stagecoach route in Texas stretched along a series of stopping points where drivers could hitch on a fresh team in 10 minutes and be on their way again. Three times a day, passengers could get a hurried meal.  Long-haul stages tended to run 24-hours-a-day, but some stations featured overnight accommodations.  The distance between stops varied depending on the terrain and the availability of water, but 15 to 30 miles apart was the norm.

By the 1850s  Round Top had a triweekly stagecoach stop in town.  Over the years of stage coaching there were three known stagecoach stations outside Round Top.
Those stations were:
  1. "Winedale Station / Inn" in Winedale
  2. "Townsend" half mile south of Round Top on SH 237.
  3. "Old Round Top Place"  half mile north of Round Top on FM 1457.

For Your Information presents Henry Flowers and The Language of Flowers
Thursday, May 17
Since ancient times flowers, herbs and other plants have been used as a symbolic means to convey feelings and as a means of communication. The ancient Romans crowned great poets and successful warriors with bay laurel as a symbol of glory. Shakespeare's Ophelia reminds us that pansies are for thoughts and that rosemary is for remembrance. But it was the Victorians that brought this language to a greater height and turned the act of giving flowers into an art form. Through books and live floral examples you will learn how to convey your feelings with the language of flowers and won't have to utter a single word.
