"Maritime Impressions, Recent Paintings by Sam Longoria"

March 11th - May 31st

Long time Houston resident and native Texan, artist Sam Longoria, will have a one man show at the Ross Gallery in Fayetteville, Texas starting this March 11th.  Longoria has been painting since he was 11 years old and has a love and appreciation for natural landscapes and seascapes.

As a small child, he was mesmerized by the color, light and shadows used by nineteenth and twentieth century artists Monet, Renoir and Pissarro.  Studies in opera and music led to hours of art lessons from professional coaches. A successful artist for many years, Longoria's contemporary impressionistic style has enjoyed widespread appeal.

A 7th generation Texan, Longoria shows his love for the state in scenes of the wide canyons in the Rio Grande Panhandle, simple cabins of the early Anglo American settlers throughout West Texas, wild bluebonnet fields, and maritime scenes spread throughout the state. This show focuses on the maritime, but will have examples of all genre.

Longoria holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from University of Texas and recently retired as an assistant U.S. Attorney in Houston, having served in that capacity for the longest duration of any such attorney to date, a total of 40 years. Now that he has retired, Longoria is enjoying being able to devote more of his time to his love of painting.  Please see website below for more information about the artist.
